Let my try.
It’s about a woman who follows a alcoholist/gambler up to New Orleans and there she becomes a whore in the house of the rising sun. Then again english is not my native language.
@bluntsky420
Hm..let my have a try.. it’s about people who have gotten into jail eventhough they are innocen. Not right, right?By the way english is not my native language.
There are other theories as to the house of the rising sun, the most prolific is that it is meant to be a brothel. Others mention a jail cell, casino or gambling house. some evidence has been found that a brothel operated in new orleans in 1820 under the name of the rising sun. Who knows really, too many versions all previous to Bob Dylan in the 1920’s and 1930’s but i beleive this The Animals did the best version released on Single in 1964 and they say its about a brothel in New Orleans
There is alot of speculation as to the origins of this song, with the animals making it the most famous and personally the best version. Bob dylan claimed a writers credit for it when he recorded it in late 1961. Alan Price of the animals claimed that the song was originally a 16th century english folk song about a brothel in Soho, and english emigrants took the song to america where it was adapted to the new orleans setting.
just because you can interpret a song in a certain way does not mean thats the meaning of the song it’s just what you think of the song, and i agree with “mcat95″’s opinion because of the lyrics about “his father”
A lot of people think they do, including me, but I’d rather not get into the whole controversial conversation that made me start blocking users and removing comments. I know I sound like a total *****, but I’m just trying to keep the peace
one of the best song ever.
I feel so happy when I hear so I can hear it 200 times everyday
Wtf does the “Life is raondom. SO am I” have to do with the song? lol I guess thats the point but its so weird.
its about a man who spent all his money and his life in a brothel.. you know? hookers and gambling, now hes in prison… waisted his life
